The MYLA and Medstar health have partnered to provide an on-sight athletic trainer at Meadowood Park for all weekend games.
MYLA Project Description

During the upcoming spring 2009 lacrosse season, the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (MYLA) is collaborating with US Lacrosse and MedStar Research Institute’s Sports Medicine Research Center to collect information about injuries that occur at the youth recreational level of play. The information collected will help expand the scientific knowledge about the types of injuries that occur to youth lacrosse players and help US Lacrosse develop programs and policies to help maintain the safety of youth who play lacrosse.

Meadowood Park in Baltimore County will be the site of this project. At all weekend games for the spring season, certified athletic trainers will be on site to treat any injuries that occur to MYLA players during the games. There will be no cost for these services and participation is voluntary. In the process, basic information about the type of injury that occurred and circumstances that led to the injury will be collected and compiled for research purposes. If the injury requires further evaluation by a medical specialist, referrals will be provided.
