MYLA Playoff Seeding

 2007 Playoff Seedings Rules

League Alignment:

In order to acheive parity in the MYLA, the board voted to require each program to place their teams in the league according to the following alignment criteria.  This league alignment will continue for the 2006 season.

The league alignment criteria is as follows:

1 team - B
2 teams - B & C
3 teams - A, B, & C
4 teams - A, B, & 2 Cs
5 teams - A, 2 Bs, & 2 Cs
6 teams - A, at least 2 Bs, & 3 Cs

Note: an A team can be an A or AA (boys only)

This method matches the comparable levels of one program against another program.  For example, if Program A has three teams and program B has three teams, then they would each have an A, B and C teams.  That would match Program A's top third against Program B's top third.

If a Program Director feels that their teams can exceed this criteria, they are free and encouraged to do so.  For example, if a program wants to place more teams in an upper division, do so.

If a Program Director feels that their teams are unable to meet this criteria, they have the freedom to break this rule; however, all teams in that age group will not be eligible for the playoffs at the end of the season.
